Experiential Learning

The curricula and the methodology evolved and followed at IWSB stems from the belief that learning in management can scarcely be theoretical. So we combine different forms of instructional inputs with extensive opportunities to apply and experience in those in multiple real life situations.

For example, as a part of their course on Statistics, a group of our PGP students is working on creating a rigorous model based on historical data that will help team owners in IPL to arrive at the most optimum bids for players in future.

Or, in the first course in Macroeconomics, students have extensively analyzed the scenario of rising world food and crude oil prices that has given them a first hand account and understanding of market imperfections.

Leadership Outside the Classroom

IWSB Experiential LearningThe Programme at IWSB is interspersed with a number of retreats to various destinations. These are leadership-learning ventures that expose our students to challenging situations outside their comfort zone. Such situations typically require them to take quick decisions in unfamiliar environs, to discover new connections, to learn the essence of teamwork.

These retreats can be invigorating and often prove to be great source of experiential learning.

Besides these retreats, the life at IWSB provides ample opportunities to students to take on and demonstrate leadership and self-governance – be it a position in the Student Council, independent projects taken up in specific areas of interest, or starting a new club or society that enriches the cultural diversity of the campus community.

As an institution, IWSB is committed to be responsive to the socio-economic developmental needs of the larger community and society. At the end of the second Term, our students spend three weeks in a rural project – an aspect of the IWSB curriculum that has as much significance as the summer internship

Our endeavor at IWSB is to integrate a general management program with the understanding on how to create a business – a new one, or building one inside an established enterprise. It's a challenge, I am sure, the IWSB team will be able to meet successfully.
