The EPM Curriculum Print E-mail

A lot of deep thought and intensive discussions with faculty and industry professionals has resulted in the EPM curriculum that will transform your career.

Business Appreciation module (3 weeks)Our participants in the Programme come from different work backgrounds. They bring in a wealth of experiential knowledge into the class. But very often this knowledge has contextual or functional boundaries. In the very start of the EPM, you will be exposed to a plethora of organizational situations and issues that pertain to multiple areas and functions. This module expects you to explore questions such as·         How does a General Manager use knowledge and data of markets, financial reports, people resources and the business environment to take operating and strategic decisions?·         How is the data from different functions and business environment integrated by a General Manager to manage expectations of different stakeholders?
Globalization and its Impact (4 weeks)Globalization and opening up of markets has fundamentally changed the perspectives for corporate management. A number of factors influence decisions in such a scenario – global competition, geo-political and cross-cultural issues. How do these issues impact organization of, and systems in, the work place, and policy formulation? This module will help you familiarize with these emerging challenges and issues.
Business Fundamentals module (14 weeks)With seven courses spread over 14 weeks, this module will lay the foundation for understanding areas such as finance, accounting, operations, technology and marketing.
Organizational Processes Module (4 weeks) This module looks at organizations as social subsystems, and helps you explore structures, systems and practices that create conditions and an environment where employees – individually and as groups – develop a spirit of ownership and belongingness and work towards achievement of organizational goals.
Organizational Change Module (5 weeks)This module also looks at organizational change, in response to changes in the external environment. Any change is painful. The General Manager needs to recognize the natural resistance to change and to work out comprehensive ways to bring about the required change. You will consider these aspects through a number of case studies.
Entrepreneurial Leadership ModuleSuccessful business leaders are expected to grow businesses – both existing and new. The EL module starts after the first 8 weeks into the EPM and runs through the Programme till the end. In this module you will either work on your own business launch idea – from inception to the funding or launch stage, or work closely with an existing entrepreneur to create a robust business plan that can stand the scrutiny of experts. You will need to present your plan to potential investors and convince them to invest.
Global Exposure module/Social Sector module (3 weeks)Participants will have a choice between the GEM and the SSM. This 3 week long module will include a 2-week visit to either an international destination to meet with business leaders and representatives from the government, and the local people, or to a rural location within India.
Electives and Majors (15 weeks)Finally, you will get to choose elective courses from a wide menu of offerings, as the final preparation before re-launching your career after the EPM. These electives will provide you with the opportunity to build more in-depth knowledge in areas of your choice, such as Strategy and Leadership, Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Operations.
