DISHA-
‘Disha’, Center for Inspiring Entrepreneur Leadership (CIEL), which started in the form of a conventional E-cell with a vision to foster an entrepreneurial ecosystem on campus, has today morphed into a full-fledged centre of excellence. It got recognition at the highest level as the fastest growing e-cell in the country by the apex body of e-cells i.e.NEN. Disha is today well on its way of realising a larger dream, i.e. to foster an entrepreneurial ecosystem on campus and the country at large. As a further recognition of their efforts, Disha-CIEL was felicitated at the global conference of e-cells, organised by IIT-Bombay under the aegis of NEN, where Disha-CIEL was bestowed with the honour of being a mature e-cell, one amongst only seven in the country (including the likes of IIMs, IITs & BITS-Pilani). A feat never achieved before, was seen by the committee in just seven months of its existence; Today, Disha is a thriving student body with partnerships and support from some of the biggest names in industry and academia. Mission
It is to catalyze the process of one’s recognizing and harnessing, of one’s own entrepreneurial abilities. To collectively usher our communities to the brighter and better tomorrow that the entrepreneurs have dreamt for them.
To achieve this, it has committed itself to creating new opportunities for entrepreneurial ventures that would have the drive and impact, in shaping our tomorrow. It seeks to provide a robust academic guidance and strategic industry interfaces in order to enable these entrepreneurs to realize their rightful goals. Initiatives : SRIJAN:- A B-plan Competition through an annual fair, where some of the best plans are incubated at IWSB itself. The highlight of the event is that the participation is not restricted only to B-school students but, also extends from an under graduation student to farmers. SANGATHAN:- A ‘My Journey Series’, where every week an entrepreneur comes to the campus to share his journey. It’s a conglomerate of the series, seminar and workshops. SEE (Society for Empowering Education):- An initiative to educate underprivileged students. The students of workers from the nearby area are taught regularly by the SEE coordinators, who are IWSB students. Shodhyatra:- A walk for 3-4 days across 25-30 villages in order to know the current problems & suggest feasible solutions. Also, look for innovation, replicating the Shodhyatra conducted by IIM Prof. Anil Gupta. MEP (Micro Entrepreneurship Program) Here, the students select Micro-Entrepreneurs (chai, kirana, juice shop, etc) to study their whole business. By sharing and experiencing their lives for a time period. This gives an opportunity to apply the learning of the classroom and test their implication to improve their business. E-Bootcamp: E-Bootcamp is a daylong event at IWSB that brings together (provide a confluence of) entrepreneurs and investors/private equity players from diverse domains, exploit and background. The objective is to create a platform for sharing of great experiences and learning. The students get to meet leaders of today and know what they opine.
Outbound Retreats Your life at IWSB will be interspersed with a number of retreats to various destinations. These are leadership-learning ventures that will expose you to situations outside your comfort zone. Such situations will typically require you to take quick decisions in unfamiliar environs, to discover new connections, to learn the essence of teamwork. The retreats can be invigorating and often prove to be great sources of experiential learning
