About the BBA Phase of FIPM This phase is a three-year program broken into nine terms, each of a duration ranging between 11 and 12 weeks. You will spend the first five terms undergoing the core curriculum. A whole range of electives covering all major areas will be on offer for you to choose from in the sixth and seventh terms. The last two terms will see you stepping out of the IWSB campus, either visiting a business school in Europe, or Australia, or Asia as an exchange student, or engaging in a business project sponsored by some organization. The Core Curriculum The BBA core curriculum has three components. Each term will have courses offered from each of these components. A term will typically offer 5 to 6 courses. The Leadership, Creativity and Communication Core The set of courses in the Leadership, Creativity and Communication core have been designed to instill leadership and communication skills that are vital for you to succeed in any organization. In these courses you will explore leadership styles and communication strategies that are effective for you as a future business leader. Many of the UGP courses are analytically rigorous, an essential requirement for you to be successful in business problem solving. The Analytical core incorporates quantitative and statistics courses that build the necessary foundation for this requirement. The Business Core The Business core courses cover the traditional management disciplines of accounting, finance, marketing, operations and information technology, and strategy. Together with the other two sets of core courses, these courses lay down a comprehensive foundation that you will find useful even after years of graduating from IWSB. The Electives and Majors A unique feature of the IWSB UG Program is the sheer number and range of electives and majors available for you to choose from. Our emphasis on offering you the choice to tailor your business education according to your needs is underscored by this and the fact that you get to do over twelve elective courses in the sixth and seventh terms – a choice you will not find in most business schools. Summer Internships To fulfill the requirements of the UGP, you will need to undergo two summer internships, one each in the summer following the third and the sixth terms. Also, one of these must be in the social sector. Multidisciplinary Project (MDP) Although we encourage you to major in one or two areas by the time you complete the Program, the overall objective is to give you a holistic perspective of all management functions. In the last two terms, you have the option of visiting one of our international partner schools as an exchange student, or of working on an MDP. Our Centre for Career Services will work out these project proposals in partnership with organizations that need you to study a business problem and recommend your solution that either they, or you with their support, can implement. The MDP provides you an excellent opportunity to apply your course knowledge in real life situations. |
